We win when we LIVE UNITED.® By forging unlikely partnerships. By finding new solutions to old problems. By mobilizing the best resources. And by inspiring individuals to join the fight against their community’s most daunting social crises.

United Way of Lea County is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) agency that brings people together to help our community reach its full potential by making systemic changes.  We partner with local businesses, government, and social service agencies to address our community’s most pressing needs.

Where does my contribution go?

98.5% out of every dollar goes back into our community.  We collaborate with 24 nonprofits agencies in Lea County and fund many different programs through financial or volunteer means.  We have measurable goals and results for each of our focus areas, ensuring your money is used wisely.  We also fund up to 12 Innovative and Focus one-time grants (in the summer) for new or expanded programs.  We do this by using community volunteers that review our partner program applicants and ensure that their mission fulfills our endowment Trust requirements.

Who runs the United Way of Lea County?

UWOLC has 3 full time staff and 2 part time staff to fulfill the mission of the United Way.  We have knowledgeable, well-trained volunteers who represent our diverse community and a diverse board of directors that sets policy, vision and strategic direction.

Who decides which programs get funded?

Volunteers from the community serve on allocation committees; they review grant applications, financials and go visit applicant agencies. They make recommendations to the Board after arduous process.  We work hard to make sure our committees look like our community.
